Ron comes to BJA Partners as our “Director of Construction”. He brings with him over 20 years of industry experience not only in construction but also as a prevailing wage specialist. He has a degree from Arizona State University in Construction Management. He started his career in 1992 as a Tunnel Engineer on the Metro Red line in Los Angeles. In 1997, Ron worked on the preconstruction efforts that landed the Staples Center for PCL Construction, and in 2000 was hired locally as a Sr. Estimator and later promoted to Director of Tenant Improvements in 2003.
His passion for helping people took him into the Financial Services Industry with Northwestern Mutual in 2005, as he served the construction industry. When the recession hit in 2008, he was introduced to employee benefits and the “Fringe” associated with the prevailing wage determination sheet with State or Federal mandated projects. In 2010, Ron started his own firm of “Strategic Connections Insurance Services”, when his mentor passed away suddenly from a long battle with cancer. At that time, he was a Prevailing wage specialist with a local employee benefits firm in town. Ron has been an industry partner with the AGC of San Diego since 2000 and an associate member since 2012, when he started his firm of SCIS.
“I work with small and large non-union subcontractors educating them on what their options are regarding the fringe portion of the wage determination sheet and prevailing wage law. Many times, I can show a company how to become more competitive while bidding prevailing wage jobs, or show them how much they are paying to the IRS in extra payroll taxes…” R.Elgart
Implementing even one benefit shows that a company is looking to attract, retain, or even reward employees by taking the next step from being a Mom and Pop shop to a company who understands that their most important asset are their employees. We are a partner for life. We want our clients to know that we’re as invested in their business as they are, helping them stay ahead of the curve as industries and demands change.
When not working, Ron is an avid golfer, skier, and tennis player. He also is a wine lover, and foody. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Rancho Santa Fe, since 2009.
